HARMONY OF HEARTS: CEDI'S DAY OF COMPASSION, REFLECTION, AND 'PROJEK TELEKUNG RAMADHAN'
UUM ONLINE: In a distinctive display of corporate compassion, the Cooperative and Entrepreneurship Development Institute (CEDI) at Universiti Utara Malaysia orchestrated a mental well-being and charity program on March 5, 2024, at Surau Batu Sungai, Bukit Kachi. The day kicked off with a refreshing de-stressing session, accompanied by a delightful barbecue, fostering a sense of camaraderie among the diligent CEDI staff. Prof Madya Dr Mohd Nizho Abdul Rahman enriched the experience with an insightful online Pre-Ramadhan Tazkirah, setting the stage for contemplation and spiritual preparation.
The spotlight of the event was the official launch of "Projek Telekung Ramadhan," a collaborative venture between CEDI and the Jawatankuasa Kerohanian & Rekreasi, School of Languages, Civilisations & Philosophy (SLCP). This benevolent initiative seeks to collect both pre-loved and new telekungs for distribution to secluded Musollas and small suraus along the Highway's Rest and Service Areas (RNR).
Integral to the initiative is the profound hadith: "The upper hand is better than the lower hand." This prophetic saying emphasizes the virtue of giving generously and underlines the ethical ethos guiding the project. By integrating such principles, CEDI ensures that "Projek Telekung Ramadhan" is not just an act of charity but a thoughtful embodiment of Islamic values.
The Executive Director of CEDI, Prof Madya Dr Mohd Sobri Don @ A. Wahab emphasizes, "In the tapestry of our lives, the threads of generosity, kindness, and unity create a fabric that warms not only the receiver but also the giver. Through 'Projek Telekung Ramadhan,' we weave a story of empathy, dignity, and the timeless essence of coming together for a purpose greater than ourselves."
"Remember," he adds with a smile, "it's not about how much we give but how much love we put into giving. May this initiative inspire us all to embrace the beauty of shared humanity and illuminate the path towards a more compassionate society."
In the words of Prof Madya Dr Mohd Sobri Don @ A. Wahab, the "Projek Telekung Ramadhan" becomes not just a charitable act but a testament to the enduring power of collective goodwill and the transformative nature of simple gestures.
Phase 1 of the project witnessed an overwhelming response, with 60 pairs of telekung sets already pledged. The project leaders, Mr Muhammad Khairul Amri (CEDI), Puan Intan Noor Hasliza (CEDI) and Puan Roshita Che Ani (SLCP) now look forward to the second phase during Ramadan and encourage potential donors to get involved.
To contribute to "Projek Telekung Ramadhan" and embody the spirit of giving, interested donors are invited to contact the esteemed
members of the project.
In its entirety, the initiative showcases CEDI's commitment to social responsibility, weaving together professionalism and philanthropy in a manner that transcends traditional boundaries and enriches the lives of those less fortunate.
